“Every year since Bevanda’s inception, we have hosted an Open House in mid-summer. This event allows our customers to meet our team, see our new products, and order client or employee Christmas gifts, which helps us project inventory for the rest of the year. As our products are imported, lead times can vary from 4-6 months.
In May 2022, I and a few team members attended the Entreleadership Summit in Orlando, Florida, where we had the pleasure of hearing Will Guidara speak. Until that point, I was unfamiliar with him, but his keynote quickly became our favorite of the conference. Guidara’s passion and authenticity for hospitality shone through on stage.
During our past Open Houses, we limited free food and door prizes to buyers only, causing tension between guests and our team. The timing of Guidara’s keynote, two months before our 2022 Open House, was perfect. We immediately began discussing how to apply Unreasonable Hospitality to our business, especially to the upcoming event. We changed our marketing strategy and opened invitations to “Bring your families, come one, come all.” We had unlimited food for all attendees and trained our team to greet guests with enthusiasm, regardless of whether they did business with us.
As a result, our 2022 Open House sales doubled from the previous year, and we received numerous compliments about our inclusive mentality and hospitality. We credit Guidara and his keynote, “Unreasonable Hospitality,” for this success and have no doubt that others can benefit from it as well.”
